GBG founder Stuart Finger, who claims to have launched the company in 1996, is listed on the official website as a master distributor rather than CEO. Michael Kahn currently holds the chief executive position. Finger’s transition from running the company to a distributor role remains unexplained.

Finger stated in a marketing video that he created GBG after experiencing frustration with other multi-level marketing opportunities. He felt previous ventures prevented him from helping his downline achieve the success he saw for himself. His stated goal for GBG was to establish a compensation plan that would allow more people to find true financial independence.

According to Finger's corporate biography, he has over two decades of experience in network marketing. He launched the original GBG, then known as International Teamworks Inc. (ITI), in 1996. ITI initially focused on reselling telecommunications services, reportedly through a reseller called TTI National.

A protest document from August 1999 details ITI's marketing tactics. It identifies Steve and Stuart Finger as founders and former Excel Representatives. The document claims ITI lacked its own products or services, often stating it marketed for MCI WorldCom, but actually sold services for TTI National. Excel Communications is identified as another telecommunications MLM company active at the time, likely the company Finger referenced when discussing his downline's struggles.

The current iteration of GBG began around 2007, marketing dietary supplements. The company's marketing materials repeatedly feature Stuart Finger discussing the company's launch. He refers to GBG as "his" company, a claim that contrasts with his current role as master distributor.

Two other individuals with the surname Finger are also listed as master distributors, suggesting family members are involved in affiliate roles. This familial involvement, coupled with Finger's own positioning, creates an unusual leadership structure. The company's history suggests a pattern of restructuring and repositioning under the Finger family's influence.
