Foxconn, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, reported that some North American factories are now working to resume normal operations after a cyberattack. The Nitrogen ransomware gang publicly claimed responsibility for the disruption.

The incident impacted IT systems and manufacturing processes at several key sites. This forced a temporary halt in certain production lines, affecting components destined for various consumer electronics.

Nitrogen typically operates by encrypting corporate data and demanding payment for its decryption key. Foxconn has not publicly disclosed whether it engaged with the attackers or paid any ransom.

Company engineers and cybersecurity teams have worked to isolate infected systems and restore operations from secure backups. Efforts include deploying new security measures to prevent future intrusions.

Foxconn indicated it is assessing the full extent of the damage and rerouting customer orders to mitigate potential delivery delays.
