Singapore’s Health Science Authority has issued a health warning pertaining to Valentus’ SlimRoast Optimum Dark Roast Coffee.

HSA began investigating Valentus’ SlimRoast product following complaints of giddiness and nausea from the general public.

As per the HSA’s
November 29th warning
, Valentus SlimRoast was tested and confirmed to contain phenethylamine (PEA).

HSA warns that PEA is

a potent ingredient that has a stimulatory effect on the brain and can potentially be addictive.

It can cause rapid heartbeat, psychiatric conditions such as hallucinations and agitation, liver and kidney failure or even death.

(Valentus SlimRoast) claimed to be able to “metabolize fat to energy” and boost circulation and oxygen delivery”.

According to HSA, Valentus do not disclose PEA as an ingredient in SlimRoast.

Accordingly the regulator advises consumers

to stop taking these products immediately and see a doctor if you feel unwell or are concerned about your health.

Valentus and its local distributors have been warned to “stop selling (SlimRoast) immediately”.

Continued sale of SlimRoast in Singapore runs the risk of two years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
