Craig Grant, a prominent promoter for the collapsed BitConnect cryptocurrency scheme, recently voiced fears of prison time while poolside in a video. His comments emerge as legal pressure mounts on top investors, including a preliminary injunction issued against fellow promoter Ryan Maasen. This follows a period of mass evidence deletion by key figures in the BitConnect network.

Grant and fellow top US investor Trevon James initially maintained public confidence despite the growing legal actions against BitConnect. Both men, however, have since purged all BitConnect-related content from their YouTube channels. This systematic removal of online evidence suggests a significant shift in strategy among those who profited heavily from the alleged pyramid scheme.

James has largely fallen silent over the past three days. Grant, by contrast, continues to upload a series of increasingly disjointed videos to his YouTube platform. In these recent posts, Grant revealed a 2008 commitment to a mental asylum in Jamaica. He stated he moved to the United States after his release, where he operated a jumping castle rental business from his car.

Documented evidence also shows Grant's past cooperation with Nigerian scammers. These individuals reportedly used photos of Grant's partner as bait in catfishing operations. His most recent video, uploaded hours ago, shows him in Versace sunglasses, casually sipping a beer, discussing his legal anxieties.

"Based on all the comments I've been deleting, I can't help but think that I'm facing jail time," Grant stated in the video. He added, "Even though it's just comments on a YouTube channel, you can't help but think about that. So what am I gonna do? I'm just gonna... if that's true I'm just gonna spend whatever time I've got out in the world doing what I do. Just... nothing." Grant imagined authorities arriving to take him away. He considered needing a public defender, or perhaps a "really good" attorney volunteering due to the story's hype.

Later in the same video, Grant disclosed that Trevon James, known for once calling BitConnect victims "crybabies," has secured legal counsel. Grant recounted receiving a text message from James, who was reportedly at a lawyer's office. Grant chose not to respond.

James then attempted to FaceTime Grant. Grant stated he turned his phone off, explaining, "I like Trevon y'know but I'm not into... I don't want to be afraid, I don't want to be scared man. And if he's at a lawyer's office, any conversation he has with me most likely is going to be something I don't want to hear."

Authorities believe both Grant and James have been evading capture since BitConnect's collapse in early January. The precise amount of investor funds they retained from the scheme remains unclear. However, Grant inadvertently exposed one of his Bitcoin wallet addresses during his promotional activities for the platform.
