Melvin Crasto, President of the All India Speak Asia Panelists' Association (AISPA), was denied bail by the Mumbai High Court on December 12, 2011. The court remanded him into custody after arguments were presented by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) and Crasto's legal representatives. Five separate Speak Asia-related cases were heard across two courts that day.

Police stated Crasto received 23 lakh, or $43,217 USD, directly into his bank account from Speak Asia. Investigators alleged Crasto acted as a promoter for the scheme, claiming he was one of the first panelists and aware that the surveys lacked genuine customers. This evidence proved sufficient for the EOW to secure his custody for three weeks and for the court to deny his bail.

Speak Asia had filed two writs, 3210 and 3211, seeking to quash First Information Reports (FIRs) lodged against the company in the Raigad and Thane Districts. Both cases were not heard on December 12. The court adjourned these matters until January 5, 2012.

The Solomon James writ 383, concerning the Lahoti Committee, was heard in a Supreme Court chamber session. Advocates Ms. Jyoth Singh, Mr. Vikas Mehta, Ms. Aditi Bhat, and Mr. Vivek Singh were listed as representing the respondents. The EOW did not appear for this civil matter, as they focused on criminal investigations. The judge ordered an application for impleadment, heard during this chamber session, to be relisted for a proper court hearing.
