Speak Asia announced today that 94,334 panelists have opted for its exit option, a figure the company states represents less than 7% of its total participant base. This claim surfaces despite the company's own exit form lacking any data verification, raising questions about the legitimacy of the reported numbers.

The Speak Asia exit option, launched last October, collects participant data but performs no checks. Information entered into the online form is not verified. Users can submit any details, and the website accepts the application without validating the input.

Speak Asia itself stated that verification depends on gaining access to company servers from the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) Mumbai. However, the EOW has not yet granted this access. Despite this lack of server access, Speak Asia released the 94,334 figure.

Without verification, the source of the 94,334 number remains unknown. Given that anyone can enter details, the exit option process lacks security and accuracy.

The exit option itself offers limited payouts. Members who earned zero Reward Points (RPs) qualify for a full membership refund. Those who earned less than their membership fee in RPs (between 220-240) receive a refund minus the difference in RPs earned. Panelists who earned more than their membership fee in RPs are entitled to nothing.

Many panelists quickly surpassed the refund threshold. Members earning just 20 RPs per week from surveys would become ineligible for the exit option within approximately three months (12 weeks). This means most of Speak Asia's panelists are excluded from opting for the exit option by default.

The EOW previously reported 6.1 billion RPs owed to all panelists. With 1.2 million reported panelists, this averages out to 5083 RPs per panelist, far exceeding the 220-240 RP maximum to qualify for the exit option. This average suggests Speak Asia is attempting to minimize its payout obligations through the restrictive exit terms.

Justice RC Lahoti is currently mediating discussions between Speak Asia and 115 petitioners regarding 50 crore rupees deposited by the company.
