Sol People launched two weeks ago, presented as a reboot of Awakend with co-CEOs Ashlee Headlee James and Whitney Rose at the helm. Rodney James, Awakend’s owner, is reportedly still in control of Sol People behind the new executive team.
Awakend’s prior launch garnered attention for its unusual mix of non-fungible token promotions and a product with contested manufacturing rights. By the time Awakend began operating as a multi-level marketing entity, its reputation was already compromised. The company struggled through 2022 and 2023 after its public face, Danelle Meoli, departed. A failed acquisition of Q Sciences appears to have sealed Awakend’s fate.
Ashlee Headlee James previously assembled a doctored Zenith study for Awakend. Whitney Rose is a star on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Her biography notes her lineage as descendants of Mormon royalty. Whitney is married to Justin Rose, Awakend’s former President. Before Awakend, Justin Rose served as Chief Sales Officer at LifeVantage.
In 2018, LifeVantage faced a class-action lawsuit alleging it operated as a pyramid scheme selling dubious products. The case concluded in April 2022 when class certification was denied. Justin Rose stated on a 2022 episode of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City that LifeVantage dismissed him due to concerns about his wife's involvement in the reality show. He explained that his supervisor cited Whitney's public profile as incompatible with continuing his role. Justin Rose also held executive positions at Nu Skin and Shaklee.
Sol People and its leadership are based in Utah. The company offers wellness products, skincare items, and digital courses. Its wellness line includes Sol Vibe, described as a supplement for energy and focus, priced at $98 for 90 capsules. Sol Glo, a beauty supplement, retails for $109 per bottle. The skincare products fall under the "Wild Rose Beauty" brand, which was Whitney Rose’s standalone company. Marketing materials confirm that Wild Rose Beauty products are now integrated into Sol People. The Daily Cleanser costs $43 for a 4 oz bottle, and the Daily Toner is listed at $49.
