Shaklee Picks Through Modere's Remains
Shaklee has swooped in to buy what's left of Modere after the company imploded in April 2025.
Nate Frazier ran Modere straight into the ground. The collapse came without warning, leaving customers and distributors scrambling. Now Shaklee, the nutrition company founded in 1956, has grabbed the company's assets through a subsidiary.
According to a May 23rd press release, Shaklee acquired substantially all of Modere's business, including trademarks, patents, and product formulas. They also took the manufacturing and testing equipment from Modere's North American facilities, plus remaining inventory. Shaklee will hold an exclusive license to sell Liquid BioCell, Modere's collagen supplement product.
Starting May 28th, 2025, Shaklee began selling Modere's former lineup through its network of ambassadors and Shaklee.com. That includes Liquid BioCell Collagen, Trim, Sculpt, Burn, and Curb. All will carry the Shaklee brand going forward.
Shaklee, headed by Chairman and CEO Roger Barnett, has built its business on selling vitamins and personal care products through a multi-level marketing structure. A 2020 BehindMLM review found the company combines multivitamin sales with forced affiliate purchases—a model that keeps most distributors broke while lining the pockets of those at the top. Today Shaklee's website hawks everything from supplements to "green home" products.
The purchase price remains a secret. Shaklee hasn't disclosed how much it paid for Modere's assets, leaving questions about whether this was a genuine acquisition or a fire sale.
In August 2025, BehindMLM published an updated Shaklee review examining the company's operations more closely.
