Maple Mountain Group, the company that once owned the collapsed network marketing operation Modere, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in June 2025 and reported zero revenue for months leading up to the filing.

The bankruptcy became public in August when former Modere employees cited it in an ongoing lawsuit. Thomas Avila, listed as the company's sole director and chief restructuring officer, signed the petition on June 2, 2025, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada. By that date, Maple Mountain Group hadn't generated any business revenue since February 1st.

Court filings don't disclose how much the company owed creditors when it collapsed. But they do show the company burned through $6.1 million in the 90 days before filing. Over a million of that went to legal and consulting fees.

More questionable spending emerged in the financial documents. Maple Mountain Group paid $245,305 to Emily Gibson Coaching, which markets itself as a resource for "female network marketers" wanting to "build the downline (and life) of your dreams." The company also paid $65,000 to the Direct Selling Association.

Maple Mountain Group's implosion is inseparable from Modere's spectacular collapse earlier in 2025. The MLM operation shut down without warning, then was sold to competitor Shaklee just a month later in May. The timing raised immediate questions about what happened to the company and the distributors left holding worthless inventory.

Nate Frazier, Modere's former president, vanished around the time of the collapse. Some of Modere's top promoters didn't wait for answers. They launched their own company, Nueva, and moved on.

The bankruptcy filing is essentially a formality at this point. With Maple Mountain Group no longer operating any MLM business, the Chapter 7 proceedings amount to liquidating what's left of a failed venture. There's little reason to expect further developments worth covering.
