Christopher Terry serves as President and CEO of International Markets Live, known as iMarketsLive, a company based in New York. The firm describes itself as a collaboration of traders and marketers. They aim to create "real wealth" for individuals by combining their expertise in financial markets.
Terry's history in multi-level marketing (MLM) dates back to the 1990s with Amway. He spoke about his start in an August 2012 interview with Denise A. Martino, who was then in his MLM downline. Terry recounted a girlfriend's praise for her boss's $5,000 monthly income. He spoke with the boss and signed up.
"Then my girlfriend, the very one who told me to speak to him, wanted me to quit because it was Amway!" Terry stated in the interview. "I told my sponsor that I had some problems and I had to quit. He told me, 'Get rid of the problems.'" Terry then broke up with his girlfriend to build his Amway business. He achieved success in the US and internationally with Amway for several years.
The 2012 interview occurred while Terry and Martino were involved in another unnamed MLM. Terry highlighted key differences from past opportunities. He stated, "I have no products to carry around, no juices or vitamins to purchase or sell, I did not have to sneak up on my family and friends, and I do not have to sell expensive products that I can buy in the store cheaper." He added, "We get paid to advertise. Period." Terry described the work as "so simple; our work is to advertise and it takes no more than two minutes per day." He contrasted this with other network marketing companies selling legal insurance, utilities, juices, or weight loss products.
The "get paid to advertise" business model frequently precedes regulatory scrutiny in the multi-level marketing sector. Zeek Rewards, which popularized this approach, serves as a stark example. The SEC filed charges against Zeek Rewards on August 18, 2012, just five days after the upload of Terry's interview. While no confirmed link exists between Terry, Martino, and Zeek Rewards, the timeline remains significant for companies employing similar advertising-centric models.
Denise A. Martino later promoted Wealth Creation Alliance in an October 5, 2012 tweet. Wealth Creation Alliance operated as a reload scam, often targeting former Zeek Rewards affiliates.
