The Generation Zoe Ponzi trial has kicked off in Argentina.

Commencing October 16th and expected to run till December 11th, the mammoth trial will determine the future of owner Leonardo Cositorto.

Cositorto, appearing in a bulletproof vest alongside co-conspirator Maximiliano Batista, is on trial for criminal association and fraud.

In addition to Cositorto and Batista, four other Generation Zoe defendants are also facing trial; Lucas Damián Camelino, Nicolás Ismael Medina and Javier Sebastián Medina.

, Cositorto’s lawyers have twice requested the trial be suspended. Both requests were denied by the court. Cositorto’s lawyers also requested permission to attend the court remotely, again denied by the court.

Over the next few months, Prosecutors in Goya plan to bring forth 166 witnesses. The Generation Zoe case stems from 176 documented cases of fraud.

Outside of Goya, Cositorto is facing related criminal cases in Cordoba, CABA and Santa Fe.

Generation Zoe
was an MLM crypto Ponzi that surfaced in 2021. The scam collapsed in early 2022, prompting Cositorto to go on the run.

Following a manhunt across South America and the Caribbean, Cositorto was
arrested in the Dominican Republic
in April 2022.

Generation Zoe investor losses have been
pegged at
$747 million pesos (~$36.1 million USD). The majority of invested funds remain unaccounted for.
