Deanna Latson, CEO of WMI Pure, abruptly departed the company in late July, following the earlier collapse of Wealth Masters International's (WMI) operations in Norway. One month later, in August, WMI founders Kip Herriage and Karl Bessey announced plans for an initial public offering (IPO) of Wealth Masters shares. This move fueled speculation of a financial crisis within WMI.
The IPO announcement came despite Herriage and Bessey's public claims that WMI was "debt free." The company's venture into finance with Opes Partners had failed to gain traction. The launch of WMI Pure faced a year-long delay. These issues suggested a pressing need for capital, contradicting the founders' assurances.
An internal email exchange, dated September 6th and 7th, reveals a deep rift and confirms revenue problems within WMI. The emails are between Karl Bessey and former WMI Chief Operating Officer Mary Dee. This exchange occurred shortly after Dee's own departure from Wealth Masters.
Dee left WMI to become General Manager of Thailand for Ariix, a company that also hired Deanna Latson as Chief Product Officer just over a month earlier. Bessey's email, the first in the exchange, expressed intense anger and a sense of betrayal.
"Mary, I tried to call you. I wanted to talk to you instead of email. But here are my thoughts and feelings," Bessey wrote. He recounted asking Dee, "when all the shit happened with Deanna," if she was talking to Ariix about employment and if WMI could still trust her with corporate information for Pure and WMI.
Bessey stated that Dee had assured him she was not in talks and could be trusted. He then accused her of lying. "In the last couple weeks it is clear you had this up your sleeve and that you have shared corp private information that was for your only."
He further claimed Dee continued her deception "as late as the m3," telling WMI leadership she was going to Thailand to work for an "import export company." This company, Bessey clarified, was Ariix.
Bessey's email escalated, accusing Dee of lacking courage. "We hung out during the m3 and not one time did you have balls enough to tell me what you were really up to and what your plans were." He then leveled a severe accusation against Dee and her "band of thugs," alleging they attempted to "rape and pillage" the Wealth Masters membership.
