Dan Putnam, co-founder and President of Xooma Worldwide, registered the domain for EPX Body, a weight loss multi-level marketing company, from a Utah address. EPX Body sells products like EPX Burn, which features Irvingia Gabonensis, an ingredient also found in Xooma's health product line.

The EPX Body website does not disclose company ownership or management. Putnam established Xooma Worldwide in 2005, and that company continues operations today. The decision to launch EPX Body as a separate entity rather than integrate its offerings into Xooma remains unexplained on the EPX Body site for potential members or customers.

EPX Body offers four primary products: EPX Burn, EPX Cardio, EPX Detox, and EPX Enhance. Each product costs $39.95, with EPX Detox sold as a pack of four and EPX Enhance as eight capsules.

EPX Burn contains a blend of "all-natural weight-loss ingredients" designed to create a thermogenic fat-burning effect, suppress appetite, boost metabolism, increase energy, and detoxify the body. Its main ingredient is Irvingia Gabonensis, a mango-sized nut from an African tree. A 2005 study by the National Center for Biotechnology Information investigated Irvingia Gabonensis seeds for obesity management.

The study involved 40 subjects in a double-blind randomized trial. Twenty-eight subjects received 1.05g of Irvingia Gabonensis three times daily for one month, while 12 received a placebo on the same schedule. All subjects maintained a normocaloric diet, tracked weekly. After one month, the Irvingia Gabonensis group's mean body weight decreased by 5.26% (p < 0.0001), compared to a 1.32% decrease in the placebo group (p < 0.02). The difference between groups was statistically significant (p < 0.01).

Patients treated with Irvingia Gabonensis also showed significant decreases in total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, and triglycerides, along with an increase in HDL-cholesterol. The placebo group showed no changes in blood lipid components. Researchers concluded that Irvingia Gabonensis seed "may find application in weight lose."

EPX Cardio claims to "help reduce stress on the heart, regulate blood pressure, improve circulation, and reduce plaque in blood vessels." EPX Detox is a herbal tea, and EPX Enhance functions as a sexual supplement for men and women.

The EPX Body compensation plan combines a matrix and unilevel structure. Members earn a 50% commission on all retail customer purchases they refer. A 50% Fast Start Bonus applies to the initial order of a new recruited member, provided the order totals at least $40.

The company uses a 4x5 matrix for team commissions. This structure places the member at the top, branching into four legs on Level 1. Each of these branches into four more, forming Level 2, and so on, for five levels. A full 4x5 matrix contains 1,364 member positions. EPX Body pays commissions based on the personal product orders of members within this matrix: 2.5% on Level 1 (4 positions), 2.5% on Level 2 (16 positions), 5% on Level 3 (64 positions), 5% on Level 4 (256 positions), and 20% on Level 5 (1024 positions).

A unilevel matching bonus pays 25% on all members personally recruited (Level 1). Once a member recruits four individuals, the matching bonus extends down four levels within their unilevel structure, paying 12% on Levels 2 through 5.

EPX Body also offers one-time cash bonuses as team sales' group volume (GV) increases. These include $100 for $1,000 GV, $500 for $5,000 GV, $2,500 for $25,000 GV, $5,000 for $50,000 GV, $10,000 for $100,000 GV, $25,000 for $250,000 GV, and $50,000 for $500,000 GV. No more than 60% of the qualifying GV for these bonuses can originate from any single unilevel leg.

Membership to EPX Body is free upon a minimum $40 product purchase, typically two products. Customers can choose to be a preferred customer, making a direct retail purchase, or register as a distributor to participate in the compensation plan. EPX Body states that new members who "sponsor 5 people within their first 30 days and maintain at least 2 active members for 6 months" will earn "at least $1000 per month or [the company] will refund your money."
