NuChoice, an MLM company founded in 2002 by John and Catherine Edwards, launched a new division called Emmutec to sell antivirus software. This marks a significant product shift for the company, which previously focused on nutrition, skincare, and weight management offerings.
Emmutec names Elisa Townsend as its Director of Marketing. The company claims Townsend has "20 years of experience in consumer product marketing" and has been "instrumental in launching several network marketing companies." Publicly available online records for Townsend, however, show a minimal digital footprint within the multi-level marketing industry.
The flagship product for Emmutec is Emmunize, an antivirus software. Emmunize operates on a "whitelist" principle. Unlike traditional antivirus programs that scan for known threats against a definition list, Emmunize blocks all applications not specifically approved and listed on its internal whitelist. Emmutec maintains this whitelist.
Subscription to Emmunize costs $8.99 per month for a single computer license, or $12 per month for a three-computer license. These subscriptions form the basis for distributor activity and commissions.
The Emmutec compensation plan combines retail commissions with a 3x9 matrix system for residual income. Retail commissions pay distributors $1.25 for selling a single-license Emmunize subscription and $3 for a three-license subscription.
Distributor ranks determine matrix payouts and other bonuses. There are four ranks: Qualified Associate, Manager, Director, and Regional Director. Becoming "active," which is a requirement for all ranks, means maintaining a $12 monthly Emmunize subscription. To reach Manager, a distributor must be active and recruit three Qualified Associates. Directors need to be active and recruit six Qualified Associates. Regional Directors must be active and recruit nine Qualified Associates.
The 3x9 matrix structure extends nine levels deep, with each position branching into three new legs. Residual commissions are paid as a percentage of sales generated by distributors within one's matrix organization, including those placed by upline spillover. Qualified Associates receive 2.5% on matrix levels one and two, and 5% on levels three through seven. Managers earn these same percentages, with an additional 10% on levels eight and nine.
Emmutec also offers a one-time Fast Pack Bonus of $10 for each successful Fast Pack sale. A Matching Bonus is available for Managers and higher ranks. Managers receive a 20% Matching Bonus on the commissions of their personally recruited distributors, considered the first generation. Directors earn an additional 10% on their second generation, which are the recruits of their personally recruited distributors. Regional Directors receive a further 10% on their third generation, comprising the recruits of their second-generation distributors.
Joining Emmutec involves two primary options. The Enrollment Kit costs $47 and provides one year of access to the Emmutec back office. The Fast Pack costs $59 and includes back office access for one year, plus a one-month subscription to the three-computer Emmunize license.
The introduction of antivirus software marks a distinct product departure for NuChoice. The company's prior focus has consistently remained on health, beauty, and weight management.
