Robert Febure operates BungeeBones, a website and script, from a Florida address listed in its domain registration. The system functions as a traffic exchange, diverging from traditional multi-level marketing structures. Febure shows no prior public history in MLM ventures.
BungeeBones offers no physical or standard digital product. Instead, it provides a PHP script, designed for webmasters to download and install. Affiliates earn money by selling advertising space to other webmasters who use this script. The platform also allows free directory listings.
The BungeeBones script requires PHP to be installed and active on the user's hosting account. Once installed, the web directory generates listings viewable by visitors through a standard web browser.
Febure outlined his vision for BungeeBones in a December 2013 post on the Bitcoin Foundation website. He aimed to create a "distributable" web directory for Bitcoin-related sites, seeking to build a decentralized list independent of search engines like Google.
He noted the script was still under development, with himself as the sole developer. The system allowed any user to add their link or install the directory on their PHP-enabled site. A built-in shopping cart facilitated purchases for better placement, with all prices denominated in Bitcoin. The directory initially operated with various categories, including Bitcoin.
Within the BungeeBones network, advertisements purchased by webmasters receive priority. Paid links consistently appear above free listings. The system ranks paid links by their bid amount, from highest to lowest, meaning a higher payment secures a more prominent position in the communal directory.
The BungeeBones compensation plan centers on affiliates sharing commissions from advertising sales generated through the web directory software. The affiliate directly making a sale earns a 50% commission. The remaining 50% distributes among the upline. The immediate upline recruiter receives 25% of the total commission. The next upline level then receives 12.5%, with the split continuing upwards.
