In 1994, Jordan Rubin received a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease. He also suffered from arthritis, diabetes, chronic fatigue, hair loss, and anemia. Rubin, a religious man, claims he sought answers globally before turning to the Bible for a diet plan he credits with his recovery. This led to his book, "The Maker's Diet."

Rubin founded Garden of Life, a vitamin and supplement company, after publishing "The Maker's Diet." The company retailed many supplements Rubin recommended in his book. "The Maker's Diet" has never undergone scientific peer-review. Rubin's academic qualifications come from non-accredited institutions, creating a potential conflict of interest regarding his product recommendations.

In 2004, the United States Food and Drug Administration ordered Garden of Life to cease unsubstantiated claims for eight of its products. The company made these claims in brochures, on product labels, and in Rubin's book "Patient Heal Thyself."

Rubin sold Garden of Life to Atrium Innovations for $35 million in late 2009. After a nearly two-year hiatus, Rubin returned with Beyond Organic, stating his aim was to "transform the health of God's people."

Beyond Organic's product line focuses on organic foodstuffs, primarily dairy and meat.

The company offers 100% Greenfed Beef. Beyond Organic claims this beef comes from cows fed grass and various greens, which they assert are superior for bovine diets. The company states its cows free-roam organic pastures "in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains" in the central US. This feeding regimen, Beyond Organic claims, results in a healthier product for consumers. All Beyond Organic greenfed beef is "biblically slaughtered to kosher standards."

Beyond Organic sells its greenfed beef as ground beef, hamburger patties, and sausages. A 500g pack of ground beef or patties costs $10 USD. A 12-ounce (340g) pack of six hotdogs also retails for $10 USD.

Beyond Organic's "Really Raw Cheese" originates from greenfed cows, which the company describes as having a "unique genetic composition."
