Beget, a daily deals platform, entered the market in the first half of 2011 with an affiliate network approach. The company is led by President Mike Reynolds, Vice-President of Global Field Operations Mike Magolnick, and Vice-President of Corporate Sales Art Molinares.
Daily deal websites traditionally offer promotions to many users. Over time, these platforms became localized, as businesses sought targeted advertising. Some daily deal sites tried integrating Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) compensation plans. Most of these models focused on recruitment commissions, often overlooking the core success driver: actual deal usage by members not interested in the income opportunity.
Mike Reynolds also holds the title of Executive Vice-President of Market Development and Strategy at Parago. Parago provides rewards-based incentive solutions. Any relationship between Parago and Beget, or Reynolds' two executive positions, remains unclear.
Beget's initial launch did not involve an MLM structure. The company described itself as offering free deals and giveaways through flash contests on platforms like Facebook and Twitter, often collaborating with Dallas bloggers. Intense competition in the standard daily deals sector likely prompted a change.
Beget appears to have returned to the drawing board in late 2011. They relaunched on an MLM platform, tweaking their daily deals business model. This shift put their "favorite Dallas bloggers" concept at the center of their new product.
When users sign up for Beget, they receive two primary components. One is a branded Beget "blog" designed for publishing affiliate deals. The second is access to Beget's daily deal offers, managed similarly to an affiliate network offer database. In a traditional affiliate network, affiliates join, usually for free, and gain access to offers they can promote. They use websites, email lists, and social networks to drive sales, earning commissions when a product or service is sold.
