ACN's acquisition of Team National surfaced quietly on January 8th, 2022, via a single Facebook announcement. This stealthy move, confirmed by a brief post from ACN, offered no official press release or public fanfare from either multi-level marketing company.
The silence from both corporate websites and public channels left many in the dark. Team National's YouTube channel had been inactive since March 2019. The only direct acknowledgement came from a "Super Saturday" event announcement for January 14th on Team National's Facebook page. ACN's website also remained quiet.
Initial public details emerged from two former distributors: Justin Weeks, who left Team National in August 2020, and John Melton, a former ACN associate. On January 7th, 2022, they posted a video titled "The TRUTH about ACN absorbing Team National," revealing the merger before official word.
Weeks described his Team National experience in stark terms. He told Melton that out of thousands of team members, he could "count on one hand" the number achieving success. The company's reliance on outdated methods like home presentations, constant three-way calls, and extensive travel made duplication nearly impossible for most distributors.
Melton noted ACN operated with an identical playbook. He cited the same emphasis on three-way calls, home parties, and hotel meetings. These events focused heavily on recruitment and the promise of financial gain, with little actual compensation tied to customer acquisition. Distributors often spent more than they earned in such models.
Weeks highlighted the confusion among active Team National distributors. They heard their company was "absorbed" but presented it as a "2.0 version." Weeks clarified that the company would simply be "gone" in a few weeks. ACN's strategy aimed to integrate the existing genealogy structure and maintain business flow for its new recruits.
Melton suggested ACN was "struggling with recruiting" at the time. This indicated a motive to acquire another company's distributor base rather than organically grow its own. Team National's discount memberships were expected to fold into ACN's broader perks offerings, which already spanned various product categories like telecommunications and energy services.
Angela Chrysler, Team National's CEO, appeared in a Facebook livestream on January 11th, wearing ACN-branded attire. She confirmed the two companies were "coming together." She stated current Team National members could access their existing perks through January, then transition to ACN's perks in February. Chrysler promised to "support" former Team National distributors but did not specify any executive role within ACN.
Richard "Dick" Loehr founded Team National in 1997, launching its multi-level marketing structure in 1999. The acquisition marked the end of the company after twenty-two years. This represented ACN's second MLM acquisition within six months, following its purchase of Kynect Energy the previous August.
The initial video from Weeks was later deleted on January 24th, 2022. More significantly, ACN discontinued its own perks offering entirely by December 11th, 2023. This rendered all former Team National memberships, which had supposedly transitioned to ACN perks, without any value.
